Emerald Bay ...

Our spot near Tyler, Texas
We had a wonderful time in Emerald Bay.  Emerald Bay is a golf community where Mom and Dad Lattimore just bought a home.   It is where Grandma Lattimore lived for several years and where John's aunt and uncle still live.  They were sweet enough to let John and I (and our 4 dogs!) stay for awhile.   We successfully put our dogs in the largest space they will ever live in (4,000 square ft house) to the smallest space they will every live in (a 17ft trailer) in about 2 weeks.  Don't worry they are adjusting.  Even though Phoebe was less then thrilled when we put her in the trailer.  She was like "Are you kidding me...this is where we are staying for the next 2 months!"
Umm...Really?
Anyway, John and I truly enjoyed Emerald Bay.  John and I both got caught up on classwork in a nice big space.  We mostly spent time in the large kitchen that overlooks the golf course.
John hard at work...actually I think this was his quiet time book :)
We also enjoyed spending time with Aunt Nonette (her cookies were delicious) and Uncle David (he makes some great lattes!), golf in the evenings (I drove the golf cart), playing tennis, quiet time in the mornings, and long dog walks.  It was very relaxing!  Being some of the younger people in the community and the fact that we were walking 4 dogs on a regular basis really caught some attention.  We had several older women and gentleman pull over in their golf carts or cars (while we were walking the pups) and ask us if we were professional dog walkers.  When we told them no they would ask if we wanted another one...theirs.  Now that's just silly why would we have 5 dogs!

Adventure awaits...and my wife needs to do my laundry
We also had several people stop by to ask about the Casita that was parked in the driveway.  Uncle Al was right, people really love these little things! We even had a guy stop us and ask us about the trailer at a gas station on our way to Austin!

We did find some time to venture to a neat Barb-Que spot in Tyler Texas and also found a coffee shop with the best cinnamon rolls around (delish!).  Aunt Nonette and Uncle David also took us out to dinner at a nice restaurant called Lago del Pino.  It was a beautiful restaurant on a lake.  The food was amazing!

So, on a high note.  The dogs did not escape while at Emerald Bay.  They were pretty well behaved.  I only got yelled at once while Ralph and Phoebe were both pooping (at the same time) in a lady's front yard.  In fact, I was getting ready to pick it up (which we always do).  She actually had the right to yell at me as it is against the rules in Emerald Bay to have your dog poop in someone else's yard (a rule I obviously was not aware of at the time).

The dogs did successfully eat a lot on their trip in Emerald Bay:  1 pound of organic grass fed beef, 1 french baguette, 1 bag of unpopped popcorn, a squirrel tail, handful of dead fish, grubs and grass.  We are working on their diet...

To be continued...

C+J & 4 crazy pups :)

We love our muts! Yes we do!

Lessons learned
Don't let your dogs poop in other people's yard's
Need cleaning crew for a 4,000 square foot carpeted home and 4 dogs
Don't leave fresh meat on the kitchen counter
Truck bed under a truck cap is very very hot in Texas (hence why we had to take 2 cars to Austin ...
         ooops!)
